| Over the weekend Javier pretended it was summer. We went to Lowes Saturday morning to buy some spackle to fix something in the office and we left with a brand new charcoal grill and a weed whacker. Javi spent the afternoon assembling his new grill and giving our lawn a much, much needed manicure. This was the first time since Javi rebuilt the walkway that we could actually see the walkway with neatly trimmed grass squares and it looks awesome! The yard looks great now and the backyard is home to the new grill so we really are all set for the summer…minus having to finish out the semester and then write my thesis and get it in by June 1. Ah! | Durante el fin de semana Javier pretendio que era verano. Fuimos a Lowes el Sabado en la manana a comprar estuco para arreglar algo en la oficina y salimos con una parrilla y una orilladora. Javi se paso la tarde Armando la parrila y dandole un muy necesitado corte a nuestro jardin. Esta era la primera vez desde que Javi construyo nuestro sender que pudiamos ver el sendero con cuandrados de pasto cortados a la perfeccion y se ve genial! El jardin se ve genial ahora y el patio es la nueva casa de la parrilla asi que estamos listos para el verano….menos la parte de tener que terminar el semestre y escribir mi tesis y entregarla el primero de Junio. AH!!! |

| On Saturday evening my parents came over to try out the new grill and watch the Big East tournament final (!!!) which made for a perfect night. It’s too bad we didn’t “spring forward” earlier because by the time Javier got outside to grill it was already dark – but we’re so happy about daylight savings time because now we can walk the dogs in the evening when Javier gets home!!While we were eating my mom ran out to the car to get something for me – she and my dad spent spring break in Louisville and my mom went to a flea market and found a few pieces of this beautiful depression glass that I love. My mom actually collects this particular pattern and two weeks ago we went to an antique mall with her in Nashville and I found four sandwich plates with the same pattern. I showed them to mom and she loved them but didn’t wind up buying them so I waited until she left and I bought them for her for mother’s day. Well I accidentally left them on the table wrapped in brown paper and when they came over for dinner she asked me what they were…I made up some story to keep her from guessing my mother’s day gift but when she brought in those pieces of depression glass for me I had to give them to her! It was so funny that we both got each other such similar gifts! She got me a punch cup and a little water glass – but I plan to use the punch cup as a little coffee cup. | El Sabado en la tarde, mis papas vinieron a casa para inaugurar la parrila y ver la final del torneo del Big East!! Lo que fue la noche perfecta. Una pena que no cambiamos la hora antes porque Javier tuvo que cocinar cuando ya era de noche – pero estamos tan felices con el cambio de horario…ahroa pdoemos sacar a pasear a los perros cuando Javi llega a casa!! Mientras comiamos, mi mama salio al auto a buscar algo para mi – ella y mi papa pasaron su semana de vacaciones en Louisville y mi mama fue a la feria de las pulgas y encontro unas cuantas piezas de vidrio de la depression que me encantan. Mi mama colecciona un tipo de diseno particular y dos semanas atras cuando fuimos al mall de antiguedades en Nashville, encontre 4 platillo de pan con el diseno de mi mama. Se los mostre y le encantaron pero no los compro asi que espere hasta que se fue y yo se los comprar para el dia de la madre. Bueno, por accidente los deje encima de la mesa envueltos en papel de diario y cuando vinieron a cenar me pregunto que eran…asi que invente una historia para que no supuiera que eran para ella pero cuando me trajo de regalo esas piezas que encontro en Louisville, tuve que darle su regalo! Fue gracioso que las dos compramos casi lo mismo para la otra! Ella me regalo un vaso de ponche y uno de agua – pero yo pienso usar el de ponche para tomas café. |
| The rest of the weekend consisted of much celebration and many sighs of relief after UofL took the Big East championship and Vanderbilt won the SEC (first time since 1951!!!!). I still can’t believe it! Javi and I listened to it on the radio in the car yesterday – we tuned in right at the end when Vanderbilt was down by 3 and then one great thing after another kept happening and Vandy pulled it off! So maybe Javi and I were good luck – or we’re just going to think of it that way anyway. So now we have three teams who won a championship – Louisville with the Big East, Vanderbilt with the SEC and Belmont with the Atlantic Sun! This is turning out to be a great March! | El resto del fin de semana consistio en una celebracion y muchas muestras de alivio luego que la Universidad de Louisville gano el torneo del Big East y Vandebilt gano el SEC (primera vez desde 1951!) Todavia no lo puedo creer! Javi y yo lo escuchamos por la radio en el auto ayer – prendimos la radio cuando perdia por 3 y desde ahi una cosas tras otra empezo a funcionar hasta que Vandy termino ganando!! Asi que tal vez Javi y yo fuimos de buena suerte – o por lo menos vamos a pensar eso. Asi que ahora tenemos 3 equipos que ganaron torneos de conferencia – Louisville el Big East, Vanderbilt el SEC y Belmont el Atlantic Sun! Esto sera un muy buen Marzo de locura! |

| Last night we filled out our brackets…but that’s definitely going to be another post because the doggos filled out brackets too (of course). I don’t think I’ve ever made a bracket that didn’t have Louisville winning the championship…I just can’t do it! So now we’re all set for March Madness! | Anoche llenamos nuestros cuadros del torneo…pero eso sera otro post porque los perros tambien llenaron los suyos (obvio!). No creo haber llenado nunca un cuadro que no tuviera a Louisville ganando el torneo…no puedo hacerlo! Asi que ahora estamos preparados para la locura de Marzo! |
