I feel like I’m sitting in a totally different house right now – Javi and I painted our living / dining room!! We started on our anniversary (so romantic…try not to be too jealous of our pizza and beer anniversary dinner) and finished yesterday, just in time for Javier’s parents to arrive. I’m so happy they don’t have to experience our extremely yellow house. Besides the fact the the new colors are great, it also adds a little “Los Rodriguez” touch – the light yellow was never our thing. Light, pastel colors don’t fit well with our personality; Javi and I always prefer bold colors and we wanted something that would bring out the white trim. Someday we are going to add crown molding and then it’ll really look good. |
Our living / dining room is all one room and it’s pretty long, so we thought one color would be too much. We spent FOREVER at Sherwin Williams picking out colors and finally chose a medium shade of brown for the big walls and then a “sun dried tomato” color for the smaller walls on either end. Ahhhh it’s such a perfect mix! I’m so happy with the end result. I also can’t believe we finished so quickly! It was a major pain moving all the furniture around, taking the TV off the wall and everything else, but it was so worth it. We also got one of those cable covers for the cables coming out of the TV, so now you can’t see a million black cables all over the wall which makes everything look much cleaner. |
Below are a few before and after pictures, including a great juxtaposition of the tree with the old and new colors behind it. Enjoy! Disfruten! |

You have to come see it!! and come see Paula!
Love it- it’s amazing what little paint will do! I’m having my own little painting party over here.. I finally realized I’m not into pastel-y blue either. 🙂
[…] my plan. Well, Javier’s idea of a romantic date night, I’m quickly learning, is painting and pizza. That’s right – we spent yesterday (and night) painting our guest room-turned-office […]
