A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to play at Puckett’s in Leiper’s Fork, TN for the second time! It’s my favorite venue I’ve played…probably ever…and we had a killer time that Saturday night. The first time we played there it was just unbearably hot but the second time it was much cooler which was a huge relief. We had all kinds of friends from all over the city drive out Natchez Trace for the show, which really meant a lot since it’s a pretty fair distance from Nashville. Leiper’s Fork is a charming little stop along Natchez Trace, as I think I mentioned in my last post about Puckett’s, so I highly recommend a trip out there, especially if it’s a Saturday night because there will always be some fun live music going on at Puckett’s.

Un par de semanas atras tuve la oportunidad de cantar en Puckett’s en Leiper’s Fork, TN por segunda vez!! Es mi lugar favorito donde he cantado….en toda mi vida….y los pasamos genial el Sabado por la noche. La primera vez que tocamos alli estaba muy caluroso pero la segunda vez estaba mucho mas fresco lo que hizo aun mejor la experiencia. Amigos de todos lados manejaron por Natchez Trace para venir al show, lo que en verdad significo mucho para mi ya que queda bastante lejos de Nashville. Leiper’s Fork es un pueblito pintoresco en el Natchez Trace, como lo mencione en un post pasado sobre Puckett’s (click aqui), asi que les recomiendo un viaje ahi, especiamente si es un sabado en la noche porque siempre habra musica en vivo en Puckett’s.

Another fun tidbit we learned about Leiper’s Fork this time around – American Pickers star Mike Wolfe owns a vacation home there and frequents Puckett’s whenever he’s in town! How did we find this out? He stopped by our show!! He came in during the second set and stayed through the end – during our last song he started to walk out to the front patio and as he walked by I caught a glimpse of his face. I thought it was a guy that looked an awful lot like Mike but I figured that would be entirely too weird to have the show’s star at our show way outside of Nashville. After we finished the last song, our bass player Mike Lehman nudged me and said “ok I have to go outside, Mike Wolfe from American Pickers is out there!” Mike and I were totally star struck which is hilarious because I don’t really get that way about most famous folks, not that I run into famous folks on a regular basis or anything, but we were kind of shameless. He just has such a cool show and seems like such a genuine guy (along with Frank!!), plus he can get you excited about ANYTHING. Seriously, he could find a shopping cart from a Kroger built in 1990 and get you to jump up and down about it and wish you had found it too. We gave him one of my CDs and of course got a few photos with him – it made our night!! I hope we get a chance to play at Puckett’s again…and maybe a chance to run into Mike Wolfe again, or maybe one of the Judd ladies, who supposedly live out in Leiper’s Fork as well.

Otro detalle que aprendimos sobre Leiper’s Fork esta vez, la estrella de American Pickers – Mike Wolfe – tiene una casa de veraneo alli y es un cliente frequente en Puckett’s cuando esta en el pueblo!! Como descubrimos esto? El fue a nuestro show!! Llego durante el segundo set de nuestro repertorio y se quedo hasta el final – durante nuestra ultima cancion comenzo a caminar hacia el patio y mientras caminaba pude ver su cara por un segundo. Pense que el tipo era muy parecido al del programa  American Pickers pero seria muy raro que la estrella del show estuviera en mi show tan lejos de Nashville. Cuando terminamos la cancion, nuestro bajista Mike Lehman me miro y me dijo ” tengo que ir afuera, Mike Wolfe de American Pickers esta ahi!” Mike y yo estabamos hipnotizados con este famoso, lo que es muy divertido porque la verdad es que no entiendo que tienen de intesante la gente famosa, no significa que veo celebridades todos los dias, pero no nos dio verguenza acercarnos a el. El fue muy gentil, muy buena onda, y parece muy genuino (junto con Frank!), ademas el puede motivarte con cualquier cosa. En serio, el puede encontrar un carro de supermecado construido en 1990 y hacer que saltes de emocion y te hace desear que tuvieras uno tambien. Le dimos uno de nuestros CDs y por supuesto nos sacamos unas fotos con el – nos alegro la noche! Espero que podamos tocar en Puckett’s de nuevo…y tal vez nos encontremos con Mike Wolfe de nuevo, o tal vez una de las Judd, quienes al parecer viven en Leiper’s Fork tambien.
