Pontooning on Percy Priest! – Paseando en bote en el lago!

Right now I’m sitting at Bongo Java – I feel like I’ve gone back in time because this is where I spent many many hours when I was a student at Belmont. I’m currently surrounded by a group of students studying for their…old testament exam I think. There are some parts about college I don’t miss at all, but I do really miss being able to go to Bongo and know that I’ll see at least 5 of my friends there. We’ve all become denizens of other coffee shops now! Well, I’ve relocated my business to my Coffeemate and my front porch. Anyway…

Last weekend Javi and I went pontooning with several friends from my grad program on Percy Priest Lake. Our friend and captain Mary planned the trip right down to the massive thanksgiving-style feast we had on the boat. The pontoon had  enough seats for everyone plus a grill, so we had grilled chicken, catfish and veggies, plus fried tofu and rice and little sushi bites that Minyoung and her husband Toku made and about 10 different bags of chips and dip. The weather was absolutely perfect; in the 80s and sunny all day so it was never too hot or too chilly on the water. We drove the pontoon around all afternoon looking at the gorgeous scenery and enjoying the sun and breeze, playing apples to apples for awhile, eating a ton of food and having a wonderful, relaxing afternoon after a crazy week. We’re going to have to go again, maybe in the spring, and rent a huge pontoon with an upper deck, slide and bathroom on board. Here are some photos from our day!
