Back in July we posted about our typical Sunday, which usually includes at least one meal with my parents and some good quality hang out time after a crazy week. Yes, our weeks are always crazy. This week was especially off-the-charts busy and exhausting, thanks to Choripan’s 3 trips to the vet and the sleep I lost worrying about him, the homework and reading and 40 essays I graded, Javier’s work, progress on the porch and brave face he had to wear when dealing with my end-of-the-rope ‘tude…we were really happy and relieved when the weekend finally arrived.

En Julio escribimos un post sobre nuestro Domingo tipico, los cuales usualmente incluyen por lo menos una comida con mis papas y pasar un buen rato descansando despues de una semana loca. Si, nuestras semanas simpre son locas. Esta semana fue ridicula en cuanto a locura y cansadora gracias a la tercera visita del Chori al veterinario y el sueno que perdi preocupandome de el, la tarea y las lecturas, y los 40 ensayos que tuve que poner nota, el trabajo de Javier, su progreso en el porch, y tener que aguantar mi actitud al final de la semana…..cundo llego el fin de semana fue como sacarse un peso de encima.

Yesterday we went to church at Second Presbyterian and went out to lunch at 5 Guys with my grandma afterward. Javi spent the rest of the afternoon finishing up the porch (photos SOON! it’s AWESOME!) while I finished grading those essays and some reading for classes (no photos of this, though). We eventually made it out to my parents’ place and ate another one of my mom’s amazing home-cooked meals. This time it was tenderloin marinated in a soy sauce / brown sugar / cinnamon mixture (with other ingredients I forgot), steamed broccoli, cauliflower and green beans, boiled corn on the cob and rice. After about 16 helpings we all felt like we do post-Thanksgiving dinner, so all our plans to play a game or watch a movie fell by the wayside because we couldn’t make our brains work or keep our eyes open.

Ayer fuimos a la iglesia a la Segunda Iglesia Prebiteriana y fuimos a almorzar con mi abuela a 5 Guys despues de la misa. Javi paso el resto de la tarde trabajando en el porch (fotos por venir!!! esta GENIAL!!!) mientras yo terminaba de poner notas a esos ensayos y leia para mis clases (no tengo fotos de eso). A media tarde nos fuimos a la casa de mis papas y cenamos una comida casera preparada por mi mama…riquisimo!. Esta vez fue carne rebosada en soya, azucar rubia y canela, brocoli, colifor y porotos verdas al vapor, choclo y arroz. Despues de comer como 16 porciones nos sentimos de la misma manera que nos sentimos despues de Dia de Accion de Gracias, asi que todos nuestros planes de jugar algo o ver una pelicula se fueron al suelo porque no podiamos usar nuestros cerebros y nuestros ojos se cerraban.

Instead, we opted to go back to our place with my parents and have an inaugural beer on the new screened in porch – which was absolutely perfect (but didn’t help with our ability to keep our eyes open). There was a light rain all evening and we had the pups outside there with us…pure bliss. I should also add that the porch isn’t 100% finished – as you’ll see in photos we post in a few days of our hangout on the porch, there are two dog crates blocking two panels by the door that Javi will finish up today.

En vez de juegos o peliculas optamos por volver a nuestra casa con mis papas y tomarnos un cerveza para inaugurar nuestro porch – el cual es absolutamente perfecto (pero no ayudo a mantener nuestros ojos abiertos). LLovia suavecito y pusimos a los perro afuera con nosotros…muy relajado. Tengo que agregar que el porch no esta completo 100% – van a ver en unas fotos en unos dias que meintras descansabamos en el porch teniamos dos jaulas de perros bloqueando los paneles a cada lado de la puerta. Javi va a terminarlo hoy.

I can’t wait to share the photos of the new porch – Javi finished it up JUST in time for fall weather to start creeping in. This week I’m looking forward to cool, rainy weather, which we’ve DESPERATELY needed in Nashville. It’s been miserably hot and dry for the past few weeks, so I’m beyond ready for this change up, even if it’s only a brief respite from the oppressive heat. I think, though, that we can safely say fall is on the way! Check back later this week for photos of our porch!

No me puedo aguantar poner fotos del porch – Javi lo va a tarminar justo a tiempo para la llegada del otono. Esta semana estoy esperando el tiempo fresco, y medio lluvioso que Nashville necesita desesperadamente. Ha sido miserablemente caluroso y seco las ultimas semanas, asi que estoy mas que lista para un cambio de temperatura aunque sea por un ratito. Creo que podemos decir que el otono esta en camino!
