Yesterday Javi posted about or newly-completed screened-in porch – yes, it’s finished!! It’s finished!! So now comes the part where we get to enjoy it!

As I mentioned in my post about our los Rodriguez Sunday, we spent our first evening on the porch with my parents having a few beers and enjoying the cooler air. Javi hadn’t quite finished with the far end of the porch, but on Monday he was able to screen in the last couple of panels so now it’s just a matter of painting the whole thing to really make it 100% perfect. Still, I’m so happy it’s all set up that I’ve spent most of my time at home on the porch since Sunday. I have a really nice little wood card table that Javier and I inherited from my great grandmother that I’ve been using as a desk for homework on the porch and my productivity rate has soared. I can’t really account for the reasons why sitting outside makes me more productive than inside…I mean I still have internet access out on the porch, but I guess being outside is just a better environment for me.

Como lo mencione en mi post sobre los domingos de los Rodriguez, pasamos nuestra primera noche en el porch con mis papas tomandonos unas cervezas y disfrutando del aire fresco. Javi no lo habia terminado del todo, le faltaba el lado de la puerta, pero el Lunes pudo terminar de poner malla a lo que faltaba, asi que ahora solo nos queda pintarlo para hacerlo 100% perfecto. Aun asi, estoy muy feliz de que esta terminado y he pasado la mayor parte del tiempo en el porch desde el Domingo. Tenemos una mesita de cartas muy buena que heredamos de mi bisabuela que he estado usando como mi mesa para hacer tareas en el porch, y mi productividad a aumentado. Nose exactamente las razones porque mejora mi rendimiento sentandome afuera en vez de adentro….tengo internet en el porch y no me distrae como lo hace dentro de la casa, asi que debe ser que estando afuera es un mejor ambiente para mi.

Javi and the dogs have been enjoying the porch just as much as I have…we have a little porch rocker and 2 rocking chairs that make it comfortable and very much like another little living room. I still can’t believe Javi did all this himself – his ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. I really thought this would be a project we’d sit on for awhile and maybe get around to building next spring, or one that we’d talk and talk and talk about and either never do it or hire someone else to do it for us. That’s not really Javier’s style – he basically planned it out for a couple of weeks and went to work. The fact that this porch makes me happy on so many levels is really just a reflection of the fact that Javi makes me happy on so many levels…mush alert, but it’s so true. I love the los Rodriguez life!!

Javi y los perros han disfrutado el porch tanto como yo…tenemos unas sillas mesedoras que lo hacen muy comodo y practicamente como otro living. Todavia no puedo creer que Javi lo hizo todo solo – su ingenio nunca me deja de sorprender. Yo pense que seria un proyecto que demoraria harto tiempo en empezar y que tal vez lo comenzaria a construir en la primavera,  o uno del que hablariamos mucho pero nunca concretariamos o que terminariamos contratando a alguien. Pero ese no es el estilo de Javier – el basicamente lo planeo por un par de semanas ….y a trbajar. El hecho es que el porch me pone feliz en muchos niveles diferentes y es un reflejo de el hecho que Javi me hace muy feliz en mucho niveles……alerta cursi!, pero es verdad. Me encanta la vida de los Rodriguez!!
