| I’ve been in recovery mode all weekend. I arrived home Thursday night from a 10-day stretch of tour life with Humming House and I’ve been soaking up the last few days at home before going back out again for another week (or so). For the past 10 days our route looked like this: TN–>PA–>NYC–>PA–>MA–>WV–>IL–>MO–>TN. As you can imagine, we spent an astonishing number of hours inside the metal box with wheels that we’ve lovingly dubbed Gina. That would be our chariot of champions, the wonderful tour van that is, indeed, as glamorous as it sounds. | He estado en modo de recuperacion todo el fin de semana. Llegue a casa el jueves en la noche despues de 10 dias en tour con Humming House y he estado aprovechando los ultimos dias en casa antes de volver a salir en tour durante una semana mas. Los ultimos 10 dias fueron asi, de Tennessee a Pensilvania a Nueva York a Pensilvania a Massachusetts a Virginia del Oeste a Illinois a Mizzouri a Tennessee. Como se pueden imaginar, pasamos una importante cantidas de horas dentro de la caja con ruedas que llamamos con carino Gina. Esa es nuestra carroza de campeones, que suena asi de glamorosa. |

| This was our first time playing in the northeast, and my first time in NYC since I went to visit Nikita there back in 2009. Our stay in NYC was not full of sightseeing but we certainly covered some serious ground running around the city trying to get from place to place while we were there. At one point Ben, Josh and I wound up on a friend’s rooftop to see if we could do a quick live video up there, and although that didn’t work out the view was spectacular and we got a few fun photos. The show in NYC was great – the venue was packed and it was great to see a few friends in the crowd who live in the city. Ian Willey came out to the show and it was so fun to see him – he also got a sweet photo of the show (below). Ben didn’t make it into the pic – he is off to the side of the stage playing his bass and kick drum. Note that we didn’t play NYC without him! | Esta fue la primera vez tocando musica en el noreste, y mi primera vez en Nueva York desde que fui a visitar a Nikita el 2009. Nuestra estadia en Neuva York no estuvo llena de turismo pero sin duda cubrimos mucho terreno en la ciudad caminando de un lugar a otro miesntras estuvimos alli. En un minuto Ben, Josh, y yo terminamos en la azotea de un amigo para ver si podiamos grabar un video y a pesar que no funciono la vista era espectacular y puimos sacar algunas fotos. El show en Nueva york fue genial – el lugar estaba lleno y fue genial ver a algunos amigos que viven en la ciudad entre la multitud. Ian Wiley vino al show y fue entretenido verlo – tambien saco algunas fotos buenisimas (abajo). Ben no pudo estar en la foto – el esta hacia el costado del escenario tocando el bajo y el tambor. No podriamos haber tocado en Nueva York sin el! |
| We played at several universities on this route and a small amusement park in West Virginia, full of hilarious diversions for each of us. We hyped ourselves up to play mini golf and ride the rides between sets (we had a couple of hours) but after playing in the hot sun and sweating like crazy we couldn’t live up to our big plans and took it easy in the hotel instead. Ah well – next time! | Tocamos en varias universidades en el camino y tambien en un pequeno parque de diversiones en Virginia del Oeste, lleno de diversion para nosotros. Nos propusimos para jugar minigolf y subirnos a algunos juegos durante nuestros shows (teniamos un par de horas) pero despues de tocar bajo el sol y sudar como locos no pudimos concretar nuestros planes y al final solo nos fuimos a relajar al hotel. Bueno – para la proxima! |
| Meanwhile, Javier was holding the fort down back home with the doggos, studying for his nursing classes which are well under way. That lovely first week of getting the hang of things is over, so now the real work is beginning to set in. As you may have noticed, both of our schedules have affected our LRL productivity, but fear not! We’re still here! | Por mientras Javier mantiene el rancho en pie con los perros, estudiando para sus clases de enfermeria que siguen avanzando. Esa primera semana de acostubramiento se acabo, asi que ahora el trabajo se ha puesto mas pesado. Como han notado, nuestros calendarios han afectado para productividad en el blog, pero no se procupen! Todavia estamos aqui! |
