| Lately thanks to all this rainfall our garden is starting to look great. This year we planted corn, beans, tomatoes, peppers, basil, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots, lettuce and spinach (but those were cold season crops so they are finished now), beets, radishes, sweet potatoes and strawberries. We also used half of a raised bed for cutting flowers, so we’ve had a constant supply of flowers for bouquets all around the house. The colors are amazing! The flowers we planted include cosmos, 4 o’clocks, sunflowers (smaller than our ones from last year- these are specifically for cutting), zinnias (my favorite!) and alyssum. | Nuestra huerta se ve tan bien como nuestro jardin. Este año sembramos choclo, porotos verdes, tomates, pimientos, albahaca, pepinos, zapallo italiano, zanahoria, lechuga y espinaca. Tambien betarraga, rábanos, camotes y frutillas. También utilizamos la mitad de una jardinera para cortar flores, así que hemos tenido un suministro constante de flores para los ramilletes dentro de la casa. Los colores son increíbles! Las flores que plantamos incluyen cosmos, 4 en punto, girasoles (más pequeño que nuestros queridos del el año pasado – estos son específicamente para el corte), zinnias (mis favoritas) y el aliso. |
| So far we’ve been able to harvest plenty of salad (though, again, that’s all gone now that the heat caught on), carrots (also finished), a couple of zucchinis, plenty of peppers, a few cucumbers, green beans, one or two strawberries, and plenty of beets and radishes. The corn is looking amazing and we’re hoping we’ll be able to eat some of it soon! We’ll continue updating as everything continues to grow! | Hasta ahora hemos sido capaces de cosechar un montón de ensaladas de lechuga y zanahoria (aunque, con el calor, muchas plantas han dejado de producir) zanahorias (también se acabaron), un par de zapallos italianos, un montón de pimientos, unos pepinos, porotos verdes, una o dos frutillas, y un montón de betarragas y rábanos. El choclo está creciendo increíble y estamos esperando que los choclos comienzen a crecer! Vamos a continuar la actualización, ya que todo sigue creciendo! |
