| Since March Hickory Slims has played a couple of shows that I never got around to posting about. Things have been so busy for us outside of music – Eric and Willie each bought a house, so they’ve been going crazy moving in and getting things settled in their respective homes. Josh and I were out playing music with Humming House on the road for a bit, and then of course I was in Denmark for 10 days. I also had my comprehensive exam in there somewhere, so it’s been kind of tough for us to get together and play much. Nevertheless, we had the chance to play two really fun shows in East Nashville. | Desde Marzo, los Hickory Slims han tocado un par de shows que nunca pude postear en el blog. Hemos estado muy ocupados con cosas fuera de la musica – Eric y Willie ambos compraron casas, asi que han estado como locos mudandose y arreglando cosas para poder vivir tranquilos en sus respectivas casas. Josh y yo estuvimos fuera tocando musica con Humming House por unos dias, y luego nosotros fuimos a Dinamarca por 10 dias. Tambien tuve un examen de grado por ahi, asi que ha sido dificil para nosotros encontrar tiempo para juntarnos a tocas musica. Pero aun asi, tuvimos la oportunidad de tocar dos shows muy entretenidos en East Nashville. |
| The first show as at the Village Pub back in March. It was Easter weekend so we weren’t sure how many people we’d get out to the pub, but it turned out to be a great crowd and we had a blast playing for a few hours in a really low-key acoustic setting. The Village Pub is always fun for a relaxed evening of low pressure tunes and fun folks dancing around – so of course we felt right at home. | El primer show fue en el Village Pub en Marzo. Fue el fin de semana santa asi que no estabamos seguros cuanta gente vendria al pub, pero termino siendo una buena cantidad de gente y lo pasamos genial por un par de horas tocando musica acustica en el porch al aire libre. El Village Pub es siempre entretenido para una tarde relajada con gente bailando alrededor – asi que nos sentimos como en casa. |
| In June, just a couple of days after I got back from Denmark, we played at the inaugural YumEast! food festival right here in East Nashville. This was such a fun event and it was a huge success for their first year. Held at the East Centric Pavilion, the festival was full of food and drink vendors from all over this side of town. The ticket to get in bought an evening full of all the food and drink you can imagine, plus a really cool beer glass to boot. We played first and we had two 45 minute sets to jam and entertain the folks while they moseyed around tasting all the different foods. It was another low-key, beer-filled set – ideal for us! Thanks again to YumEast for having us – we really hope this happens again next year! | En Junio, solo unos dias depues de volver desde Dinamarca, tocamos en la inauguracion del festival de comida YumEast! aqui en East Nashville. Este fue un evento muy entretenido y un gran suceso para ser el primer ano. Lo hicieron en el Pabellon East Centric, el festival estaba lleno de comida y bebidas ofrecidos por negocios de toda la ciudad. Con la compra de un boleto tenias derecho a probar toda la comida y las bebidas que te imagines, y tambien un vaso de regalo. Fuimos los primeros en el escenario y tocamos dos sets de 45 minutos mientras la gente disfrutaba de su comida. Otro evento tranquilo, con cervezas, ideal para nosotros! Gracias nuevamente YumEast por invitarnos – esperamos que se repita el proximo ano! |
