McClure takeover: congratulations Andrew and Camala!
Well, I’m pretty sure I’m all traveled out for the month of April! Javier and I just returned with my parents from a long drive home from Destin, where my cousin Andrew married his lovely new wife Camala. My parents and I drove down to Destin on Wednesday, stopping overnight in Birmingham and arriving in Destin on Thursday afternoon just in time to meet Ian and Andrea at the beach before heading to Andrew and Camala’s rehearsal dinner. Javier didn’t arrive in Destin until Friday because HE WAS BUSY BECOMING AN AMERICAN CITIZEN!
Bueno, estoy segura que ya me lo viaje todo en el mes de Abril!! Javier y yo hace poco volvimos junto con mis papas de un viaje desde Destin, donde mi primo Andrew se caso con su preciosa esposa Camala. Mis papas y yo manejamos hacia Destin el miercoles, paramos en Birmingham y llegamos a Destin el Jueves en la tarde justo a tiempo para encontrarnos con Ian y Andrea en la playa antes de ir al ensayo de Andrew y Camala y a la cena de camaraderia. Javier no llego a Destin hasta el Viernes porque ESTABA OCUPADO CONVIRTIENDOSE EN CIUDADANO ESTADO UNIDENSE!
I did the photography for the wedding, so on Friday morning I headed off to the salon with Camala and all her bridesmaids to start the wedding shooting. I spent quite a bit of time with Camala’s close friend Zeus, who traveled to Destin all the way from Ibiza where she and Camala met and lived together for a few months several years ago. Zeus is originally from Bahia, Brazil, so I got to practice my Portuguese and Spanish with her.
Saque las fotos de matrimonio para ellos, asi que el Viernes en la manana sali rumbo al salon con Camala y todas sus damas de honor para comenzar con la sesion de fotos. Pase un buen tiempo con Zeus, una muy buena amiga de Camala que viajo a Destin desde Ibiza donde ella y Camala se conocieron y vivieron juntas por unos meses hace unos anos atras. Zeus es originalmente de Bahia, Brasil, asi que pude practicar mi Portuguese y Espanol con ella.
The only minor hitch in the wedding day was that it was pouring rain and fairly cold, so we didn’t get to do the beach wedding that Andrew and Camala had planned. Fortunately, Andrew’s mom Jan had reserved the clubhouse in a beautiful neighborhood close by just in case of inclement weather, and it wound up being a beautiful ceremony that was outside but under a covered patio. We could hear the soft rain falling the whole time and the greenery all around the edges made it feel like we were in a rainforest. Camala looked stunning in her beautiful ball gown wedding dress and Andrew was looking sharp in his tuxedo – and to top it all off, their little dog Simba was dressed to the nines and carrying the ring down the aisle!
El unico problemita en la boda fue que estaba lloviendo fuertisimo y estaba un poco frio, asi que no pudimos ir a la playa con Andrew y Camala como planeamos. Afortunadamente, Jan, la madre de Andrew habia reservado un pabellon en el club de campo muy cerca de la playa solo en caso de mal tiempo, y resulto ser la ceremonia perfecta al aire libre bajo el techo del pabellon. Se podia oir la lluvia suavemente durante la ceremonia y todas las plantas alrededor te hacian pensar que estabas en el bosque lluvioso. Camala se veia preciosa en su vestido y Andrew se veia impecable en su terno – y para mejor, su pequeno perrito, Simba, estaba tambien vestido para la ocasion y trajo los anillos.
When we got to the reception, mom and Javier had arrived from the airport – Javier a newly-naturalized citizen! The party was in a hotel nearby and the dance floor was full the entire night – just what we expected for Andrew and Camala’s wedding! Those two are killer dancers, and I couldn’t resist getting a few little videos of those two tearing it up!
Cuando llegamos a la fiesta, mama y Javier habian llegado del aeropuerto – Javier como un nuevo ciudadano! La fiesta fue en el hotel cerca de la ceremonia y la pista de baile siempre tuvo gente bailando toda la noche – exactamente lo que esperabamos del matrimonio de Andrew y Camala! Ambos son fantasticos bailarina, y no pude resistirme a grabar un par de videos de ambos rompiendola con sus pasos!

Andrea is popping! That baby bump is my little niece GIA!
Andrew and Camala are a really special couple and we are so happy for the two of them. We climbed a mountain with them last summer and that is a memory we will always treasure and that will hopefully be repeated time and again in the future. We are so happy to have Camala officially join our family – I can’t imagine a better bride for my big cuz! Congratulations Andrew and Camala!
Andrew y Camala son una pareja muy especial y estamos MUY felices por ellos. Subimos una montana con ellos el verano pasado y esa es una memoria que nunca olvidaremos y que esperamos repetir pronto. Estamos felices de tener a Camala oficialmente en la familia – no me puedo imaginar una mejor esposa para mi primo! Felicitaciones Andrew y Camala!
