| You may have noticed that the posts are here are fewer and farther between, which can only mean one thing: the end of the semester is here! And we’re swamped! COMPLETELY SWAMPED. I just finished my first of two comprehensive exams this week (!!!) and the little spare time that Javi and I had last week was spent either gardening, working out or doing mindless activities to give our brains a break. But I would like to pick up where we left off before we get too far away from our Destin adventure! | Podrán notar que los post están cada vez mas escasos, lo que solo puede significar una cosa: el final del semestre ha llegado! Y estamos super acupados! SUPER OCUPADOS! Esta semana tomo uno de mis 2 examenes plenos (!!!) y en el poquito tiempo libre que tenemos, Javi y yo lo pasamos jardineando, ejercitando, o haciendo cosas que no necesitan mucho pensamiento para así darnos un dencanso mental. Pero quiero hablar un poquito mas sobre Destin antes que la aventura ya haya pasado hace mucho. |
| On the day after the wedding we had beautiful weather for a final beach day before heading home. In the morning we all took a beach walk toward Pompano Joe’s, a seafood shack right on the water. On the way we took the opportunity to take some (extra bright) beach photos – Ian and Andrea even waded out to the second sand bar for some fun shots! We met all of the McClure siblings and spouses at the restaurant for a celebratory Javi-is-a-citizen lunch. The windows were open, the weather was perfect and the food was great – perfect way to start a relaxing beach day. | El dia después de la boda, tuvimos un tiempo espectacular para pasar todo el día en la playa antes de regresar a casa. En la mañana todos caminamos por playa camino a Pompano Joe’s, un restaurant de comida del mar que queda justo en el mar. En el camino aprovechamos la oportunidad para sacar fotos (super brillantes – Ian y Andrea incluso se metieron al agua para sacar fotos! Nos encontramos con todos los hermanos McClure y sus parejas en el restaurant para un almuerzo celebratorio por la nacionalización de Javi. Las ventanas estaban abiertas, el tiempo precioso, la comida buenísima – perfecta manera de empezar un día de relajo en la playa. |
| After lunch we walked back to the house, packed up some brews and snacks and headed for the beach with our cooler and football. We didn’t have beach chairs, so naturally Javi made one with the materials at hand: sand. After seeing Javier’s sweet home-made beach chair (digging a hole and using the sand from the hole to create a backrest), we all wanted one…so by midafternoon we were finally all settled with our sand chairs and Bud Light lime-a-ritas – pure bliss. Exactly what I needed before taking this miserable exam. | Después de almorzar caminamos de vuelta a la casa, preparamos un cooler con cervezas y cositas para picar y nos fuimos a la playa de nuevo. No teníamos sillas, así que naturalmente Javi hizo una con el material que tenia a mano: arena. Después de ver a Javi con su genial silla hecha a mano (un hoyo en la arena y se usa la arena que se saco como respaldo) todos queríamos una…así que a la mitad de la tarde estábamos todos instalados con nuestras sillas de arena y bebidas, puro placer. Exactamente lo que necesitaba antes de tomar este examen miserable. |
| After several glorious hours of doing nothing on the beach, we cleaned up and headed out for a lovely, final dinner event with the whole McClure and Wedum families at a beautiful seafood restaurant on the water. We all spent the whole time catching up and soaking in as much family time as we could – complete with a birthday slice of key lime pie for Julia! It was a great final evening to cap off a wonderful weekend. | Despues de muchas horas gloriosas de no hacer nada en la playa, nos arreglamos para ir camino a una genial cenar final con toda la familia McClure y la familia Wedum en un lindo restaurant de comida marina en la orilla del mar. Pasamos el tiempo conversando y poniendonos al dia, aprovechando al maximo el tiempo con la familia – se completo todo con un una rebanada de pie de lima para Julia su cumpleanos! Fue una gran noche para cerrar el fin de semana. |
