| This week is going by SO SLOWLY. Last week we were spoiled because we started the week still on a little vacation high and then the 4th of July holiday in the middle of the week, so it seemed like we got to the weekend in no time. On Friday Corinne came into town just for the night. We met up with my parents and my cousin (well, second cousin but it’s all the same on the Inman-Kane side of the family) Sarah for Mexican food on Friday evening. Sarah is going into her junior year in high school and is a PHENOMENAL singer songwriter out of Rifle, CO. I’m super jealous of her guitar playing and songwriting skills. Her sound is akin to Patty Griffin and Mindy Smith – high calibre! I was floored and so was my dad, who recorded 5 or 6 quick tracks in his studio while she was staying at their house over the weekend. It was great to see her – I think the last time I saw her she was a little older than a toddler! We’re recruiting her to Nashville. Belmont or Vandy would be lucky to have her! | La semana se mueve MUY LENTAMENTE. La semana pasada nos malcriamos porque comenzamos la semana después de una vacación y después el 4 de Julio feriado en la mitad de la semana, así que nos día la impresión que el fin de semana llego muy rápido. El Viernes, Corinne vino a Nashville por una noche. Nos juntamos con mis papas y mi prima (bueno, prima en segundo grado pero es lo mismo con la familia Inman-Kane) Sarah para comer comida Mexicana el Viernes en la tarde. Sarah va por su tercero medio y es una compositora y cantante fenomenal de Rifle, Colorado. Estoy celosa de su habilidad para tocar guitarra y escribir canciones. Su sonido es muy parecido al de Patty Griffin y Mindy Smith – alto calibre! Quede muy impresionada, y mi papa también, quien grabo 5 o 6 canciones en su estudio mientras se alojo en su casa durante el fin de semana. Fue genial poder verla – creo que la ultima vez que la vi ella era una bebita! Estamos reclutandola para que venga a Nashville. Belmont o Vanderbilt tendrían mucha suerte de tenerla! |
| We spent Friday night hanging out at La Hacienda eating ceviche and drinking sangria. This was the very last of my birthday celebrations! I can’t believe how long I got to drag it out this year – kind of awesome! This was the first chance we had to celebrate it with my parents since they were out of town first and then we were gone in Cali. My bro and Andrea got me – nerd alert – the blu ray extended edition Lord of the Rings Set! Ahhhh I’m so happy! I’ve never seen the extended versions and from what I’ve seen so far, they definitely chose the right scenes to delete but it’s still really fun to see the new footage. Corinne bought me two beautiful sets of earrings made by an artist in Paducah – I put one pair on in the pic below. I’ve got such great friends and family – I’m a lucky girl. | Pasamos la noche del Viernes compartiendo en La Hacienda, comiendo ceviche y tomando sangria. Esta fue mi ultima celebracion de cumpleanos! No puedo creer lo largo que se estiro este año – muy genial! Esta fue la primera oportunidad que tuvimos de celebrar con mis papas ya que estaban fuera de la ciudad y después nosotros fuimos a California. Mi hermano y Andrea me compraron – alerta de nerd – la edición extendida en Blu Ray del la saga del Señor de los Anillos! Ahhh que contenta estoy! Nunca he visto la versión extendida y por lo que he notado hasta ahora, ellos eligieron bien las escenas que borraron pero aun así es entretenido verlas. Corinne me compro dos sets de aros muy lindos hechos por una artesana de Paducah, Ky – puse un par en la foto abajo. Tengo muy buenos amigos y familia – soy una chica con suerte. |
| After la Hacienda we spent the rest of the evening playing Puerto Rico and Apples to Apples at our house. The next morning Corinne and I spent some time on the porch drinking coffee til the heat drove us in, and her family came to pick her up around noon. That afternoon Javi and I decided to go do work at my parents’ house by the pool..but one mishap involving a Chupete, a glass of water and my macbook pro had me panicking and racing off to the apple genius bar…and I’ll leave you in suspense because that’s another story for another post. | Después de La Hacienda, pasamos el resto de la noche jugando Puerto Rico y Apples to Apples en la casa. A la mañana siguiente, Corinne y yo pasamos un rato tomando cafe en el porch hasta que el calor nos hecho, y su familia la vino a buscar al medio dia. Esa tarde Javi y yo decidimos ir a la piscina en casa de mis papas…pero un pequeno percance que incluye a Chupete, un vaso de agua, y mi computador me puso en modo de panico y tuve que salir corriendo a la tienda Apple…y los dejare con el suspenso porque esa es otro historia para un proximo post. |
