Who else besides me divides the hours of weekdays into favorite / least favorite times of day? I can’t be the only one right? On the average day, when nothing extraordinary is going on, my favorite / least favorite hours of the day go like this:
Quien mas aparte de mi divide las horas de los dias de la semana entre mas / menos favoritas? No puedo ser la unica verdad? En un dia normal, cuando no hay nada extraordinario, mis horas mas / menos favoritas del dia son asi:
6AM-10AM – 2nd favorite time chunk. I get my breakfast (I love breakfast…I could eat cereal all day, but most of the time I don’t), I’ve got fresh hot coffee, it’s quiet outside – it’s nice. It’s also my most productive block of the day.
6am – 10am – mi segunda parte del dia favorita. Aqui tomo mi desayuno (me encanta el desayuno…podria comr cereal todo el dia, pero la mayoria de las veces no lo hago), tomo cafe fresco calentito, no hay ruidos afuera – es comodo. Es tambien el bloque mas productivo de mi dia.
10AM-4PM – I’m totally indifferent about these hours. I’ve usually still got coffee, which is nice, but by now it’s not as fresh and I always debate if its worth making another pot. Some day I’ll buy one of those carafes that keep coffee fresh without letting it burn. Anything can happen and usually on a weekday different stuff is going on so it depends on the day. Sometimes I’m on campus, sometimes at home working, which is great because pomodoro breaks involve hanging with the doggos.
10am -4pm – Estas horas de dan lo mismo. Normalmente todavia tengo cafe, lo que es rico, pero en ese momento no esta tan fresco y siempre tengo que decidir si vale la pena hacer otro jarro. Algun dia comprare una de esas garrafas que mantienen el cafe fresco sin dejarlo que se queme.Cualquier cosa puede pasar y normalmente en un dia de semana distintas cosas pasan asi que depende del dia. A veces voy al campus, a veces estoy en casa trabajando, lo que es genial porque cada vez que tengo un descanso puedo jugar con los perros.

4:00PM-6:00PM (and sometimes 7PM) – I really don’t like this time of day! Truly. My productivity is waning at this point and I start to get impatient for Javi to come home. It’s not a regular thing for Javi to get off work early, but it happens a few golden times. It’s so nice when he does get off work early because it usually gives us time to take the dogs on a walk or it gives us the extra time necessary to cook dinner on the grill instead of on the stove. Anyway, like I said, it doesn’t happen often but that 4-6 time block is around the time when I start wondering if it’ll be one of those come-home-early days.
4pm – 6pm (y a veces 7pm) – No me gusta esta parte del dia! En serio.Mi productividad se acaba y normalmente me pongo impaciente por que Javi regrese.No es muy seguido cuando Javi sale del tabajo temprano, pero pasa de vez en cuando. Es genial cuando sale temprano porque nos da tiempo para pasear a los perros o nos da mas tiemponecesario para cocinar la cena en la parrila en vez del horno. Pero bueno, como dije, no pasa muy seguido pero ese bloque entre las 4 y las 6 es el tiempo cuando empiezo a pensar si va a ser uno de esos dias donde el llegara a casa antes.
6:30PM – 10PM – The BEST time of the day, hands down. First, Javi gets home! Depending on the day, he gets home between 6:30 and 7:30. The dogs freak out and it’s so fun to watch him run around the backyard with them – really, it never gets old for me or the dogs. Then we workout which is great to blow off steam and get some energy out. Then dinner! Ah, food. And while we eat we usually watch an episode of something – it’s the only time of day that I let myself watch TV and I soak it up. By the time we’re finished eating it’s usually around 9 or 9:30…which for me is so exciting because it’s almost time for sleep!!.
6:30pm – 10pm – El MEJOR tiempo del dia, sin duda. Primero, Javi llega a casa! Dependiendo del dia, el llega a casa entre las 6:30 y las 7:30. Lo perros se vuelven locos y es muy entretenido verlo correr en el patiocon los perros – en serio, nunca se pone aburrido para mi o los perros. Luego ejercitamos, lo que esta bien, pero despues la cena! Ah, comida. Y mientras comemos normalmente vemos un episodio de algo – es el unico momento del dia que me dejo ver tele y lo aprovecho. Ya al tiempo que termino de comer son las 9 o 9:30….lo que es emocionante porque es casi la hora del lo mejor del mundo, dormir.

I actually sat down to write this post thinking I’d just focus about the 4-6 time of day, but it turned into a whole description of my average weekday. All things considered, my weekdays are pretty awesome, especially on days that I get to stay home and work from my office here. I get to hang out with the dogs – how many people get to work from home!? My time is fairly flexible and there’s only one 2-3 hour period that is consistently annoying and even then it’s just because I’m impatient, not because something truly bad is happening. I’m glad I wrote this out because it’s nice to remember that things are pretty great, despite the fact that I’m steeped in final papers and end-of-semester woes. Only one more week of final papers, then a month of thesis-mania and then a little break in June! For now, I’ll wrap this up and enjoy my second favorite time of day…with my fresh hot coffee and bowl of cereal on the porch. Ah, yes. Life is good.
La verdad es que me sente a escribir este post pensando que solo me quejaria del bloque de las 4 a las 6 pm, pero termino siendo una descripcion de todo mi dia. Considerando todo, mis dias de semana son geniales, especialmente los dias que me puedo quedar en casa y trabajar en mi oficina. Puedo pasar rato con los peros, mi tiempo es mas o menos flexible y hay solo un periodo de 2 o 3 horas que me molesta pero es solo porque soy impaciente, no porque algo malo haya pasado. Que bueno que escribi esto porque es bueno recordar que todo esta muy bien, a pesar del hecho que estoy en el final del semestre y con mucho papeles finales. Una semana mas de papeles ,despues un mes de tesis-mania y despues un pequeno descanso en Junio! Por ahora, cerrare el post y disfrutare mi segunda parte favorita del dia…con cafe fresco y cereal en el porch. Oh si, la vida es buena.
