Might as well be summer in Nashville

It’s barely spring and we’re already acting like it’s summer at the Los Rodriguez mansion. Ever since Javier bought his grill the weather has been consistently in the 80s and I think today it got all the way to 91. Does anyone remember back in February when I mentioned I might be a little bummed if it winds up 100 degrees in March? I was kind of joking about it getting that warm so early, and yet here we are! Still, the weather has been a welcome change (not that it’s really a big change from what it was in “winter”) because now we are spending about 70% of our waking hours at home on the porch. Morning coffee on the porch, afternoon reading and STATA sessions on the porch, dinner on the porch, evening work time on the porch, etc. It’s pretty perfect and we’re taking full advantage of our little bug-free outdoor space!

On Sunday night my parents came over for dinner and we had a classic McClure-Rodríguez summer meal: ceviche from La Hacienda! Of course we can’t miss a beat in the college basketball world (and this goes especially for my gma and dad – they REALLY don’t want to miss anything!) so we ate it on the porch with the window open so we could see / hear the games from outside. Javier did this all the time in the fall when the Titans were on – we’d sit on the porch and he’d turn on the Titans and watch from outside. It was a beautiful evening so of course I had to get some photos – I love our little porch and the lights! So much for “Christmas” lights – I’m glad we decided to be “that house” on the street and keep them up.
