In our previous post, Leslie forgot to mention our Saturday night dinner at The Family Wash. The Family Wash is another great place in East Nashville, with a cool atmosphere, good beer and AMAZING Shepherd’s Pie!!!
This place was actually the first place where I heard Leslie sing (well I heard her sing before but I mean in a real show on stage). The building used to be a laundromat, hence the name “The Family Wash”. They have a few tables, a bar, and a stage…all decorated with the most random pieces of art, lights, stickers, and wine bottles. It’s one of those places where every random thing seems to work in perfect harmony to give the restaurant a very original feel.
We love to go there for their Shepherd’s Pie. It’s the only dish we eat there, not because the others aren’t good (we haven’t bothered to tried anything else) but because the pies are simply too good to pass up! They also have great music, and on Tuesdays you can get a pint of beer and a pie for $10…sweet deal!
Last Saturday we discovered what will probably turn into a Los Rodriguez Life tradition…Saturday Jazz dinner! They have a Jazz band every Saturday night, and I really enjoy listening to Jazz. Do the math: Me and Leslie + Shepherd’s Pie + Jazz + Beer = PERFECTION (turns out math really is that easy)! The only thing that could possibly make it better would be to be able to bring Chupete and Choripan…but that wont happen so it’s as perfect as it gets. After our busy Saturday it was definetly the best way to end the day.
For those that are not sure what a Sheperd’s Pie is, here is the description: a layer of peas and carrots, a layer of ground beef, a layer of mashed potatoes and a layer of melted cheese, served hot on an aluminum plate…once you try it, you’ll find yourself constantly craving it and wanting to go back to the Family Wash for more!
Check out their facebook page and website for music updates, event calendars and a look at their menu. They are also in Yelp!

I’ve been in Nashville 9 years now and still haven’t been to this amazing place! Maybe we’ll go on the Jazz night!
Oh my you have to try it out! Jazz night is so great – the singer last week was fabulous.
