Our adventure in Denver started with the surprise early arrival of Leslie’s brother Ian the same night that we arrived. He was working at a conference in California and the original plan was that he would arrive in Denver on Friday with his wife Andrea but he was able to change his ticket to arrive on Thursday night. The hitch here was that we arrived about two and a half hours earlier and since John and Annie had rented a car we decided to hang around the airport area so we could take him to his hotel instead of leaving him to get a cab. We (Leslie, her parents, and I) were pretty hungry, a little thirsty and we wanted to find a cool place to hang out while waiting for Ian. The people at the car rental place told us about a diner close to airport that would be a good place to visit. We thought “A diner ….in the middle of nowehere in Colorado…..get ready to eat some roadkill!….PERFECT!” We wanted a cool Colorado place to start our trip and this was a good option (…we don’t really want to eat roadkill – just had to clear that up).
We followed the directions and just when we were about to give up we found it! It was a silver metallic-looking building with neon lights on the edges and neon signs. It looked like someone took this place straight out of the ’60s – we were so excited! We didn’t want just a regular chain restaurant and this was definitely not your typical place.
We ordered a round of beers (I mean, we were in Colorado – we had to try a local beer) and some tasty food. I asked our server what she would recommend and she told me to get a beef burrito covered in green chili sauce….it was amazing! The burrito came with pico de gallo, guacamole, beans, rice and sour cream. I mixed all up with the green chili sauce and it became a delicious mess (I took a picture, but Leslie thinks it’s pretty unappetizing and won’t do the burrito the justice it deserves). Leslie got some onion rings and a turkey croissant and her parents ordered salads and a portion of chili (really spicy and tasty). When we got our plates we were impressed with the portion size of our plates but more impressive yet was the size of John’s beer!

Haha! My ex used to cook at that restaurant! It’s a pretty chill little spot. Can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures and read about the good times you had here. We loved having you here!
Welcome to Denver! So much to do. I have never been to that restaurant…should try it out. I hope you have a great time here. Will be checking in to see what other adventures you’re up to.
We loved Denver! It reminds me of home as many landscapes seem very similar to some you can find in Chile. Whenever we move Colorado will be on the top of our list! Such a cool place!
