My heart is still racing and I’m still recovering from about 10 minutes of sheer panic when my computer wouldn’t turn on this morning. I went into the bedroom and stood next to Javi and I think he knows what this means by now because only 2 months ago one of my memory cards was faulty after shooting a wedding and I did the same exact thing. Just stand there and panic while he wakes up…then he comes into the office all calm and collected, finds some diagnosis on some online help site and then it’s all better. UGH. That would have been a terrible way to start the day.

Mi corazon todavia palpita fuerte y me estoy recuperando de un ataque de panico, hace 10 minutos mi computador no prendia. Fui a la pieza y me pare al lado de Javi y creo que el sabe que significa porque 2 meses atras una de mis tarjetas de memoria no funcionaba despues de sacar fotos de un matrimonio e hize exactamente lo mismo. Me pare ahi en panico minetras se despertaba….luego el viene a la oficina todo calmado y sin desespero, encuentra un diagnostico online en algun sitio de ayuda y todo se arregla. UUFF. Hubiese sido una terrible manera de comenzar el dia.

So now I’m a half hour behind, and am backing up everything I might have lost, which would have included this batch of Harry Potter photos I never uploaded. When the last Harry Potter came out in July I was in the middle of a million things – I was shooting a wedding the weekend it came out (and actually ran into the bride and groom at the midnight premier!), then it was time for Missy’s wedding in Wisconsin and then my brother’s wedding, so we somehow glossed over one of my favorite moments of the summer and failed to upload some of the fun photos from the night of the premier.

Asi que ahora estoy atrasada media hora, y estoy guardando todo lo que tengo en mi computador incluyendo este grupo de fotos de la premier de Harry Potter que nunca subi al blog. Cuando la ultima Harry Potter sali en Julio, yo estaba en medio de un millon de cosas – tenia que sacar fotos de un matrimonio el fin de semana (me encontre con los novios en la funcion de media noche!), luego tenia que viajas a Wisconsin al matrimonio de mi amiga Missy y despues el matrimonio de mi hermano – asi que con tantas cosas se me olvido subir las fotos de uno de mis momentos favoritos de este verano, la premier de media noche de Harry Potter!

I went to the movie at 100 Oaks with my friends Lauren, Matt and Ashley. Our show started at 12:30 (AM) and we got there at 11:30. When Ashley and I did the midnight premier of HP 7.1, we got there an hour ahead and we breezed through the line because we had fandango tickets at the kiosk and grabbed our seats, no problem. So I think we naively thought that it’d be the same story here. When we first arrived, we didn’t even see the line because it literally wrapped all the way around the gigantic complex. It was. ENORMOUS. Well back up, when we FIRST arrived we couldn’t even see the damn theater, that’s how far away we had to park. I don’t know how to describe to you how ridiculously long the line was – it almost lapped itself. And of course as I was hoping (and the reason I brought my camera) – everyone was dressed up and beyond excited to see the last installment.

Fui al cine de 100 Oaks con mis amigos Lauren, Matt, y Ashley. Nuestra funcion empezaba a las 12:30am y llegamos a las 11:30. Cuando Ashley y yo fuimos a la funcion de media noche de Harry Potter 7.1, llegamos al cine una hira antes y nos saltamos la cola porque teniamos tickets de Fandango, asi que agarramos nuestros puestos sin problema. Asi que pensamos que seria lo mismo esta vez. Cuando llegamos no vimos la cola porque literalmente le daba la vuelta al enorme complejo donde esta el cine. Era LARGUISIMA. Nos pisomos a la cola y ni siquiera podiamos ver el cine, as ide lejos tuvimos que estacionar. No se como describir lo ridicula que era la cola – casi se sobreponia a ella misma. Y claro como yo esperaba (y la razon por la que lleve mi camara) – todo el mundo estaba disfrazado y super emocinados con la ultima pelicula de Harry.

The line took an hour to get through and we barely made it into the theater for our showtime. I loved the movie, and I won’t get into why I loved it and everyone else hated it except to say after the VERY FIRST movie when they chose a Harry Potter with blue instead of green eyes and changed every little important detail, I stopped watching them with the hopes that they’d be like the books. They NEVER were true to the books, they NEVER were as good as the books, but once you let that part go they are just fun to watch. It’s fun to watch “magic” happen on the silver screen and see a little part of your childhood in a movie. And no, HP was NOT my entire childhood and nor do I feel like my childhood is “over” now that all the movies and books are out. If HP was the sole memory of my childhood that’d be a pretty pathetic one indeed, and if I thought that HP was “over” just because there aren’t any more midnight premiers, well, then I wouldn’t really believe that HP was a good series (as in, a good book is the kind of book you pick up and read again someday, etc. etc.).

La cola demoro una hora y apenas entramos a la sala a tiempo para el comienzo de nuestra funcion. Me encanto la pelicula, y no voy a meterme en detalles porque me gusto y a todo el resto no les gusto, pero tengo que decir que despues de la primera pelicula cuando escogieron un Harry Potter de ojos azules en vez de verdes y cambiaron todo los detalles importantes, deje de mirarlas ya que esperaba que fueran como los libros. Nunca fueron como los libros, nunca tan buenas como los libros, pero una vez que te olvidas de eso las peliculas son estretenidas de ver. Es entretenido ver “magia” en la pantalla y ver un poco de tu infancia en la pelicula. Y no, Harry Pottter no fue toda mi infancia y tampoco siento que mi infancia se termino ahora que las peliculas y libros terminaron. Si Harry Potter es la unica memoria de mi infancia, seria una memoria bien patetica, and si yo pense que Harry Potter se termino porque ya no habran mas funciones de media noche, bien, entonces yo no creeria que Harry Potter fue una buena serie (asi como un buen libro es el tipo de libro que lees mas de una vez)
