Black Lives Matter

The whole world has changed since the last time we wrote, and before we go on posting about what’s been going on in our household, I wanted to state as plainly and obviously as I can that Black lives matter. Like so many others over the last month, we have been reading, listening, learning, and trying to do our part without performance. So I’ll stop here and share a few links to various resources and Black voices that we follow. It’s not *even close* to a finished or comprehensive list by any means – please share any you’d like to add in the comments.

  • First – sign the petition for justice for Breonna Taylor.
  • Rachel Cargle – Rachel Cargle has been one of the leading voices that I have found in the movement to UNLEARN racism. She has four accounts you can follow on instagram – her personal account where she shares her thoughts on basically everything – I especially love her Saturday School posts, which involve breaking down word by word the racist comments she receives and explaining WHY they are racist. It’s racism masked as TLC, microaggressions that should make every well-meaning white person cringe and want to do better to unlearn this “but I’m not racist because I said so!” garbage. Her online learning platform and community The Great Unlearn offers memberships, which supports her financially and provides members with detailed resources to aid in unlearning racism. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. If you aren’t on instagram, you can go to the Great Unlearn website here: She also started The Loveland Foundation (website: which focuses its resources on supporting Black women and girls (for example, the foundation hosts a Therapy Fund which provides financial assistance to Black women and girls seeking therapy). And finally, she opened a bookstore which you can find here: She’s an inspiration and she’s constantly sharing other Black voices you should be paying attention to.
