| With all the excitement about the kickstarter and the pressure to continue posting about it we never wound up posting about our Thanksgiving!! This year was a little different than usual because grandma was out of town and we did Thanksgiving at home in Nashville rather than Louisville. We made a feast fit for 3 families but it was just the four of us – me, Javier, mom and dad. Javier spent all summer growing sweet potatoes and he harvested them back in October, but we saved them to eat on Thanksgiving. I made my grandmother’s sweet potato soufflé – man that stuff is so sweet. It could probably do with a cup less of brown sugar and it’d still taste like dessert! In other words, it was ridiculously tasty. We had a huge turkey, mashed potatoes, roasted veggies, cranberry apple bake, rolls, gravy – oh man it was so ridiculously good. | Con toda la emocion de la campana Kickstarter y la presion de postear constantemente para poder lograr la meta, nunca escribimos sobre Dia de Accion de Gracias!! Este ano fue un poco distinto a lo usual porque mi abuela no estuvo con nosotros y pasamos la cena de Accion de Gracias en Nashville y no en Louisville. Hicimos un banquete para 3 familias, pero eramos solo 4 personas – Javier, papa, mama y yo. Javier se paso el verano completo haciendo crecer camotes y los cosecho a finales de Octubre, pero nos guardamos para Accion de Gracias. Los use para preparar la receta de suffle de camote de mi abuela – les digo que es muy dulce. Lo mas seguro es que lo puedo preparar con una copa de azucar menos y todavia estaria dulce! Pero como sea estaba delicioso. Preparamos un pavo, pure, vegetales, cacerola de manzana y cranberry, pancitos, salsa de carne – todo estaba muy rico. |
| We had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving meal on Thursday and then on Friday we drove to Louisville to stay with Marian and Stephen. Ian and Andrea drove down with Gia from Chicago and left Gia with us while mom, dad, Ian and Andrea all went to watch UofL play downtown. This worked out great for us – Javi finally got to meet Gia (yay!!) and we had plenty of time to babysit her without having to share her with her grandparents 😉 | Comimos una cena muy tranquila el Jueves y el Viernes manejamos rumbo a Louisville para quedarnos con Marian y Stephen. Ian y Andrea manejaron desde Chicago con Gia y la dejaron con nosotros mientras ellos junto a mis papas fueron a ver el partido de basquet de la Universidad de Louisville. Esto funciono a la perfeccion para nosotros – Javi por fin pudo conocer a Gia (sii!!!) y tuvimos mucho tiempo a solas con ella mientras la cuidabamos sin tener que compartirla con sus abuelos 😉 |
| Marian, Stephen, Javi and I decided to play the game Mexican Train (no idea where the name comes from) while Gia slept, and we wound up totally addicted. Gia was super good the whole time – no dirty diapers, no incredibly long bouts of crying. I just love that sweet girl. Of course I had my camera with me and made sure to get a few good Christmas-y shots of her, and then the next morning I got some photos of the three of them for Ian and Andrea’s Christmas card. | Marian, Stephen, Javier y yo nos decidimos a jugar Tren Mexicano (no sabemos de donde viene el nombre del juego) mientras Gia dormia, y terminamos adictos. Gia se porto muy bien durante todo el tiempo que la tuvimos – no tuvimos que cambiar panales, y no lloro mucho tampoco. Amo mucho a esa ninita. Claro que tenia mi camara a mano y me asegure de sacar fotos navidenas de Gia, y al dia siguiente pude sacar fotos de los tres para la tarjeta de navidad de Ian y Andrea. |
