| Our Easter day was awesome. It’s the closest I’ve come to a vacation all semester and the closest I’ll get to vacation again til June. I spent all day Saturday doing work for school so I could safely take the day off on Sunday. We took the doggos to the Dog Spot early in the morning so we could enjoy the Easter festivities without having to go home every few hours to let them out. Then we went to the service at Second Pres – I love Easter Sunday at our church! The music is off the charts incredible. The children’s choir sings, we have a brass quartet and bell choir playing, the regular choir fills up the room with music – it’s beautiful. I also love the Easter lilies that decorate the sanctuary and all the fabulous Easter dresses, hats and suits that everyone (including the children) don for the day. We had one little girl wearing purple sparkly wings…her dad told us she dressed herself that morning. Perfect. | Nuestra Pascua fue genial. Fue lo mas cercano que he tenido a vacaciones este semestre y lo mas cercano a vacaciones que tender hasta Junio. Pase todo el Sabado hacienda tareas para asi poder tomarme el Doming libre. Llevamos a los perro a su guarderia al Dog Spot temprano en la manana asi podriamos disfrutar de la celebracion de Pascua sin tener que volver a casa cada cierto tiempo para dejarlos salir. Fuimos al servicio en Second Pres – me encanta el Domingo de Pascua en nuestra iglesia! La musica y los canticos son increibles. El coro infantil canta, un cuarteto de instrumentos de aire (tuba, trompetas, etc…) y un coro de campanas tocan, el coro regular llena la sala de musica – es hermoso. Tambien me encantan las flores decorando el santuario y todos los vestidos de Pascua se ven fabulosos, sombreros y trajes (incluyendo los ninos) tambien se ven genial. Tuvimos una ninita vistiendo alitas de mariposa rosadas con brillantinas…su papa nos dijo que ella se habia vestido sola esa manana. |
| After church Javi and I went to my parents house and from there on out there was no use in sticking with our P90X nutrition plan…it was officially a day to splurge. My mom had one creme-filled chocolate egg for each of us and a bottle of wine ready to sip on during food prep time…so yeah there was no use in counting calories that day! Again, we were on a little afternoon-long vacation. I sat in the kitchen with mom and dad the whole afternoon while they prepped the food – dad cut the gigantic ham, mom made all the side dishes. She made the most delicious apple & sweet potato casserole, a huge pile of rice and veggies, broccoli…it was amazing. The Easter ham was from Emerald Glen Farm and was enormous – we’ve been eating leftovers all week! | Despues de la iglesia, Javi y yo fuimos a casa de mis papas y a partir de ahi nos olvidamos de nuestra dieta P90X….era oficialmente un dia libre. Mi mama nos tenia huevitos de chocolates rellenos con crema y una botella de vino lista para abrir mientras preparaba la comida…asi que no habia necesidad de contar las calorias ese dia! De nuevo, esa tarde estabamos de vacaciones. Me sente en la cocina con mi mama y papa toda la tarde mientras ellos preparaban comida – papa corto el jamon, y mama preparaba los acompanamientos. Preparo una caserola de manzana y papas dulces deliciosa, un monton de arroz y vegetales, broccoli…estaba genial. El jamon era de Emerald Glen Farms y era gigante – hemos comido las sobras por una semana! |
| Around 5:00 our friends Dale, Barbara and their three kids Jonas, Lucas and Mia came over to have dinner with us. Javi and I babysat these three two years ago and this was the first time we’d seen them since – they are SO big now! They had a ton of energy back then but Jonas was so small two years ago he wasn’t even talking yet. Now it’s THREE kiddos full of happy energy! Below are a few pics of playing with their toys from their Easter baskets before dinner. It was an awesome evening and the dinner…well I’m still dreaming about it! Barbara made a carrot cake for dessert and it. was. incredible. I couldn’t stop eating it – it was placed right in front of me at the table so I kept cutting off tiny little bites and putting them on my plate after I ate my first piece! Probably all told I had like 3 pieces. It was SO good. So that’s the LRL Easter! The doggos were totally tuckered out after the Dog Spot which was what we were hoping for, and it was so nice for us to take a little break from everything for a day and enjoy the Easter festivities. Hope everyone else had an equally great Easter Sunday! | Mas o menos a las 5pm, nuestros amigos Dale y Barbara, junto con sus tres hijos Jonas, Lucas y Mia llegaron a la casa para cenar con nosotros. Javi y yo cuidamos a los ninos dos anos atras y no los habiamos visto desde entonces – estan muy grandes ahora! Tenian un monton de energia en ese entonces pero Jonas era un bebe y todavia no hablaba. Ahora son 3 enanos llenos de energia! Aqui van algunas fotos de ellos jugando con sus juguetes de Pascua antes de la cena. Fue una tarde genial y la cena..bueno todavia estoy sonanado con la cena! Barbara prepare una torta de zanahoria muy rica…increible. No podia parar de comer – la pusieron justo al frente mio en la mesa asi que no pare de sacar pedacito por pedacito! Lo mas probable es que me comi como 3 pedazos en total. Estaba muy bueno. Asi que esa fue la Pascua de Los Rodriguez Life! Los perros estaban completamente muertos despues de jugar todo el dia en el Dog Spot, eso esperabamos, y y fue rico para nosotros poder tomarnos un descanzo de todo por el dia y disfrutar de las festividades. Esperamos que todos lo hayan pasado bien durante Pascua! |

Hi Javier! me encantaron tus fotos de semana santa en malaga – encontre tu blog cuando estaba buscando fotos de espana. I was there 6 years ago and loved it. Our blog is bilingual because Javier (my husband) is from Chile and his family reads the blog. I also think it’s cool to have a bilingual blog so people can have the chance to practice English or Spanish if they want. There aren’t many bilingual blogs out there! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
