After meeting one of the American Pickers guys and watching a lot of DIY network transforming things and looking for opportunities to create new things out of something nobody wants its becoming FUN!!!

Despues de conocer a una de las estrellas de American Pickers y ver un monton de television sobre Hagalo Usted Mismo, transformar cosas y tener vision para crearcosas nuevas de materiales que nadie quiere se ha tornado en algo ENTRETENIDO!

So walking the dogs the other day I saw this rusted out chair on the curb which of course nobody wanted – the thing was nasty! Leslie didn’t really want me to touch it! But I picked up and carried it back to the house with the idea of giving new life to that former very useful piece of furniture.

El otro dia paseando a los perros vi una silla toda oxdada botada en la calle, que claro nadie queria – estaba asquerosa! Leslie no queria que la tocara! Pero la tome igual y me la lleve a casa con la idea de darle nueva vida a esta silla que alguna vez fue una pieza muy util.

I had some pieces of wood left over from the porch, some screws and a decent idea. So I just went for it!

Tenia algunas piezas extra de madera que me sobraron del porch, algunos tornillos y una idea decente. Asi que me la jugue!

I stripped the chair and bent the legs back to the correct shape.

Desmonte la silla y doble las patas para corregir la forma de la silla.

I took out most of the rust with sand paper and applied a coat of gold paint. Yeah GOLD!! That chair is now pure BLING BLING!

Saque la mayoria del oxido con una lija y aplique una capa de pintura de oro. Si ORO!! Esa silla es puro LUJO!!

I cut 4 pieces of 1x4s and attached them together using the Kreg Jig (once again, best tool ever). I cut some curves with a jigsaw and sanded it to make it feel smooth. That would become the seat of the chair.

Corte 4 piezas de 1 x 4 y las uni usiando mi Kreg Jig (de nuevo, la mejor herramienta que existe). Corte algunas curvas con una sierra y lije los bordes para que uqedara suave. Eso seria el asiento de la silla.

With the seat ready I attached it to the chair frame.

Con el asiento listo, lo ensamble al marco.

For the back support I used 5 pieces of 1x4s and followed the same steps I did for the seat. Using a hole saw and my drill I made a hole that would make it easy to lift the chair when necessary. Attach the back to the frame and we have a new chair!

Para el  soporte de la espalda use 5 peizas de 1 x 4 y segui los mismos pasos para el asiento. Usando una sierra para hacer agujeros y un taladro corte un circulo que va a ayudar a tomar la silla cuando sea necesario levantarla. Ensamble el respaldo al marco de la silla y ahora tenemos una silla nueva!

It was a really fast and simple process and now we have a one of a kind piece of furniture. I am still thinking about how I am going to decorate it, so that will be coming soon in a future post. For now the color of the wood makes it look really cool anyways!

fue muy rapido y facil el proceso y ahora tenemos una silla unica en su tipo. Todavia estoy pensando en como decorarla, asi que eso sera un post para el futuro. Por mientras el color de la madera se ve bien!
