I have been working a little bit outside, getting some bushes out and trying to clean up the overgrown vegetation around the perimeter of the house. We live in an area close to the river with plenty of trees and vegetation everywhere and with that…..other animals, bugs, etc..

He estado trabajando un poco afuera, cortando algunos arbustos e intentando limpiar un poco la vegetacion que ha crecido sin cuidado en el perimetro de la casa. Vivimos en un area cerca del rio con muchos arboles y vegetacion por todos lados y con eso….otros animales, bichos, etc..

I think is fascinating to see all these bugs and animals living, trying to survive around us (yeah, we are taking over) and sometimes we don’t even notice it. Well in the past two days I noticed it. I was working in the basement cutting some wood for the front porch a couple of days ago and as I look to the wall there he was…little mickey mouse checking the basement out and then dashing when he saw me looking at him. We have seen plenty of snakes around, many big enough to eat that little mouse, but for some reason this guy got away. I couldn’t wait for the snakes to wake up and get hungry so I had to catch it myself.

Creo que es muy interesante ver todos estos bichos y animales vivendo cerca de nosotros, tratando de sobrevivir (si porque nosotros estamos dominando el mundo) y muchas veces no nos damos cuenta de todo lo que pasa. Bueno en los ultimos 2 dias..si me he dado cuenta. Estaba trabajando  en el subterraneo cortando madera para el porch un par de dias atras, y cuando miro la muralla….ahi estaba, Mickey Mouse observando el subterraneo y despues arrancando cuando se dio cuenta que lo vi. Hemos vistos muchas serpientes alrededor, varias lo suficientemente grandes para comerse ese ratoncito, pero por alguna razon este se pudo escapar. No puedo esperar a que las serpientes despierten y les de hambre asi que tuve que atraparlo yo mismo.

I hated the thought of killing the mouse, but they carry viruses and bacteria that I dont want around, so at least I got a trap that would give him a quick death.(Better than poison and the following smell)…I got him!

Me carga la idea de matar al raton, pero llevan bacterias y viruses que no quiero en  mi casa, asi que por lo menos compre una trampa que le dara una muerte rapida. (Mejor que veneno que lo hace sufrir y el olor despues para encontrarlo)………………lo atrape!

As I continued working around the house I kept finding snake skin….so there it is. The snakes have gone shopping for their fall closet and forgot to eat! I don’t know what they are doing since its really hot still, but anyways they got tired of their old overalls and need new ones, I guess.

Mientras continuaba trabajando en la casa encontre varias pieles de serpiente…..asi que eso era! Las serpientes andan comprando ropa para su closet de otono y se les olvido comer! No se que hacen porque afuera todavia hace mucho calor, pero bueno si se aburrieron de sus rapos antiguas que puedo hacer.

As I mentioned in the past post we have a lot of bugs too, but most of them just the typical ones (mosquitoes, flies, spiders, crickets, beetles, butterflies, wasps, etc…) Choripan loves to eat crickets…his favorite hobby when I let him in the basement. But today when I was hauling our trash can I found the coolest bug so far….a praying mantis! It scared the crap out of me but when I realized what it was but I was so excited to see it. It wasn’t big but it was so cool, a classy looking bug. So I took a few pictures while the thing was doing its evening yoga and praying. So here is our new friend…I hope the dogs don’t get him…

Como dije antes, tenemos muchso bichos tambien, pero la mayoria de ellos son los tipicos (mosquitos, moscas, aranas, grillos, mariposas, avispas, etc..) A Choripan le encanta comerse los grillos….su pasatiempo favorito cuando lo dejo entrar al subterraneo. Hoy cuando estaba sacando la basura, encontre el bicho mas genial hasta ahora…una mantis religiosa! Me asusto cuando se movio por mi mano pero cuando me di cuenta de lo que era fue una buena sorpresa. No era grande pero se veia genial, un bicho con clase. Asi que tome un par de fotos mientra hacia su yoga y rezaba. Asi que ahqui esta mi nuevo amigo…espero que los perros no se lo coman…
