LRL out to the ballgame!

Summertime for us means a number of things: gardening, heat, porch time, pool time, summer shandy, grilling out, gardening…but rarely does summertime mean baseball in this household. Javier isn’t a huge fan of the sport and I’m not a big enough fan to push the issue of going to the ballpark from time to time, so we haven’t been to see a baseball game in a long, long while. A couple of weeks ago, however, our friend Samantha decided to organize an outing to a Sounds game and we wanted a night out with friends so we headed out to the ballpark!

El verano para nosotros significa muchas cosas: la huerta, calor, sentarse en el porch, piscine, cervezas, asados, jardinería…pero casi nunca significa baseball en nuestra casa. Javier no es muy aficionado a este deporte y yo no soy lo suficientemente fanática como para intentar convencerlo a ir al estadio de vez en cuando, así que no habíamos ido a un partido en mucho mucho tiempo. Un par de semanas atrás, nuestra amiga Samantha decidió organizar una salida con un grupo de amigos a un partido de los Sounds (el equipo de baseball de la ciudad) y como todos queríamos pasar un rato junto entre amigos, fuimos al estadio!

The Sounds played Memphis and lost in the very last inning, but we had a fun time watching the game and catching up with everyone. Ballparks are also a great place for people watching and for some reason I don’t feel super guilty when I eat pure junk in stadiums, so I took advantage and we had a beer (in a plastic bottle! first time for me…) and some delicious nachos. At the end of the game we stuck around for a really awesome firework show – I was impressed that the show went on as long as it did! It was a really great time. Thanks for organizing, Sam!

Los Sounds jugaron contra Memphis y perdieron en la última jugada, pero lo pasamos bien viendo el partido y poniéndonos al día con nuestras amistades. Los estadios también son un gran lugar para ir a ver gente y por alguna razón no me siento tan culpable por comer comida súper chatarra en los estadios, así que me aproveche de beber una cerveza (en botella plástica…por primera vez!) y unos nachos. Al final del juego nos quedamos por unos minutos para el show de fuegos artificiales – quede impresionada con lo largo que fue el show! Lo pasamos muy bien. Gracias por organizar todo Sam!
