Los Rodriguez Life Giveaway / Sorteo !

As you might have noticed from our posts over the past week, we were nominated for Best Bilingual Blogger at the LATISM 2012 Conference. Houston hosted the conference this year and the conference featured many popular Latino/a bloggers. We couldn’t be there this year but we hope to join in the fun at future conferences.

above is our nomination, below is a pic of the mini endorsement we got from the Latino Rebels to vote for us! THAT was pretty awesome

In case you are wondering…we did not win the award. To be honest, we never even expected to be nominated. We didn’t know the nominations were open or happening, so the nomination was a huge boost for our blogging morale. Even more exciting was to get comments from our readers that voted for us, love the blog, and enjoy the fact that we write everything in English and Spanish. We want to congratulate all the winners and  the nominees in each category! Just think about how many blogs exist out there…being recognized at all is a huge accomplishment. The winner in our category was Mamá Contemporánea – you all should definitely go check out her amazing blog! We were flattered and honored to be placed in the same category with this blog and Creciendo con Todas las Habilidades – the other blog in our category.

The bottom line is: we never could have been recognized if it weren’t for our readers. That is it! We could have the most amazing blog with all the bells and whistles and media but if nobody read it, it wouldn’t matter. So THANK YOU! Thank you for motivating us to keep writing, for engaging with us, for commenting and liking the posts.  Since we never would have had a chance at winning without you all, we want to offer our readers a chance to win a little something from us as a thank you.

We are giving away a Chupete t-shirt (designed by Javier) and one of Leslie’s CDs “Back Home to You” that she released back in 2009 (before we were married, so her name was still Leslie McClure). To win you have to do 2 things: Follow/subscribe to the blog (via email or WordPress) and post a comment below telling us your favorite Spanish and English word.

  1. Dudes! I can’t believe you didn’t win. I seriously thought you would…But it’s still really cool to be nominated!! I really want that t-shirt, since I’m obsessed with the banjo!!! So let’s see here…I think one of my favorite palabras en espanol es “cacahuate.” It’s fun to say! En ingles, maybe, “rural” because it’s hard to say…AND it reminds me of that 30 Rock episode where Jenna stars in the film ‘The Rural Juror’, and nobody can pronounce it correctly. It’s really funny. XO, Tobi

  2. Congrats on the nomination! As for my favorite word, in Spanish, it’s “mojado” – it’s such an elegant word for “wet.” In English, my favorite word is “brobdingnagian” – it means huge or gigantic.

  3. Whats up are using WordPress for your blog platform? I’m new to the blog world but I’m trying to get started and create
my own. Do you need any coding knowledge to make your own blog?
Any help would be really appreciated!
