Our local OMG

I know I know – Javi and I keep going on and on about our neighborhood and how awesome it is but really, I do think we uncovered the coolest corner of Nashville when we moved to South Inglewood. Maybe it wasn’t always Nashville’s best kept secret, but now that Riverside Village is realizing its full potential South Inglewood really has it all. The icing on the cake for me is a relatively new vintage/hand-made/refurbished stuff haven next to the Village Pub called Old Made Good (OMG!). They opened literally a week or two after we moved into our house and it’s just a short 8-10 minute walk away. Shortly after my first visit I “friended” them on facebook and now every day my news feed is full of updates from the witty women who own the shop, Kate and Ashley. They always have a “today’s thought” photo with a quote – which can be slightly vulgar (never a problem for me, but just a warning!) but is usually funny and / or right on point. They also put together the cutest outfits from new clothing items that come into their shop, take a photo of the outfit (down to the every accessory) and post it on facebook – more than once I’ve seen something in a photo they post that I’ve wanted and as soon as I think I’ll go try it on, they announce it’s already sold.
Today's thought – August 9
That brings me to an important point – everything in the store is one-of-a-kind, so if you decide you like something, you better get it before someone else does. A week ago they posted a few needlepoints that one of the ladies in the shop made and the caption of the photo said “not your grandma’s needlepoint” – and right away I knew I had to have the top one (pictured below). I immediately wrote them a message on facebook and asked them to post it online so I could purchase it – I would have been so sad if someone scooped it up before I could! Good news for these particular items, in case anyone wants one – if they sell out of their “Naughty Needlepoints,” you can order them custom (at least with the phrase you want, I’m guessing) from the shop. The owners make jewelry, spruce up items like clutches (see the one I bought below – they added the cute decor on the top) and refinish furniture in a way that makes you look at it and say “dammit why didn’t I think of that?!” – but that’s the genius of this shop – they do the thinking / creative work for you, and you get to enjoy it when you bring it home. I love to refinish furniture, but I rarely have the time for it now like I did when I was in college moving into my first off-campus house and refinishing all of the dressers I grew up with. They find in-cre-di-ble pieces of furniture and make them 100x more amazing than you ever imagined they could look (a case in point). It’s the same with the clothes – if you have time to go to yard sales, flea markets and thrift shops to look for hours and find the gems, that’s great…but OMG makes it their job to find the items that you dream about and keeps them all in one place for you.

One last point – with the holidays coming up and the economy staying down, it’s really important to shop local. Old Made Good has everything creative / vintage / handmade / once-loved – for men and women – that you could possibly want for Christmas presents. If you’re having trouble thinking of gifts, stop by their shop and check out the options – I guarantee you’ll find something! Happy shopping!

  1. Hey Facebook operates fine to me but your web site is starting steadily which actually had taken approximately one minute to be able to load, I’m not sure whether it’s
my personal problem or perhaps your web site issue.

Anyway, Thank you for posting an extraordinarily
great article. Nearly everybody who actually discovered this web site should have discovered this short article extremely handy.

I hope I will be able to get further awesome
information and I also should certainly complement your site by telling you’ve done
incredible writing. I ‘ve got your site bookmarked to check out blogs you post.
