First time catching dinner! – Primera vez que pesco la cena!

Every time you pass a river in Tennessee you can see at least one or two fishing enthusiasts enjoying the outdoors. Actually, any place where there is some water and a possibility of catching fish you can see people hanging out with their fishing rods. I tried to fish in the past but never actually caught anything, and it was so long ago that I felt like I didn’t know anything…and that is the truth, I have no clue about fishing.

But when you have a friend that is looking for a fishing partner, loves to fish, and doesn’t mind giving you a few tips and use his gear….fishing is on!! Our friend Matt was really eager to get out to enjoy his day off and enjoy the good weather while it lasts. He texted me to invite me to go fishing and I couldn’t say no.

The day was nice and we both had the day totally free, so after a stop at Bass Pro Shop to get some bait and a fishing license for me (Thanks so much Matt!) and another stop to get crickets, gas, and snacks, we headed to the Center Hill Lake dam. The water was slightly cold, but after a few minutes in it was great. There were several other people fishing and after a few casts I got my first little trout!

There are several rules and regulations regarding what kind of fish you are allowed to keep, the number, and their weight. We weren’t looking to come back with a huge amount anyways, we mostly wanted to hang out and enjoy the relaxing outdoors. After catching quite a bit of small guys, Matt caught the biggest brown trout of his fishing career. It was a smart fish too because it ate his bait a few times before Matt was able to hook it. He was so excited to get it! It was a really good looking fish. So that was the icing on the cake, and shortly afterward we decided to go back home.

The job wasn’t complete though; we needed to clean the fish and eat our dinner. So we came home and showed Leslie our trophies! Matt tried to teach me how to clean the fish but I sucked at it, so he did most of the work. (Thanks again Matt!) So after the meat was ready to go I dipped it in eggs, flour and to the skillet. The fish tasted awesome and it felt great to eat our fresh Tennessee trout.

We didnt take that many pictures but here are some:
